BETHESDA, MD: July 20, 2010 — Adding to the growing momentum of her campaign, Maryland District 16 delegate candidate Ariana Kelly today received the endorsement of Montgomery County Chapter of the Sierra Club.
“Throughout my career, I have worked tirelessly in support of conservation issues- which I believe are crucial to preserving our families’ way of life. As a strong proponent of clean energy technology, it gives me great honor to accept the endorsement of such a prestigious group.” said Kelly
The Sierra Club is one of the oldest, most established and most recognizable forces in environmental advocacy. The endorsement holds much importance among District 16 voters, who have consistently made environmental action a priority during election season.
“Ariana Kelly is a defender of our environment who will move Maryland toward a clean energy future, promote smarter transportation solutions and protect our Chesapeake Bay and other natural habitats from big polluters.” David Hauck, Chair of the Montgomery County chapter of the Sierra Club, stated.
The Sierra Club endorsement is the latest addition to a long list of endorsements for Kelly including the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), the Democratic Women’s PAC of Maryland, SEIU Local 500, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland PAC, the Montgomery County National Organization of Women (NOW) PAC, and the Women’s Campaign Forum. Eighteenth District Delegate Jeff Waldstreicher, former State Senator Sharon Grosfeld, fifteenth District Delegate Kathleen Dumais, and former State Senator Hon. Mary Boergers have all endorsed Kelly as well.
Ariana Kelly is running for an open Delegate seat in the 16th District, which covers Bethesda, Glen Echo, and portions of North Bethesda, Potomac, Chevy Chase, Cabin John, and Rockville. Kelly currently lives in Bethesda and is a mother to two young children, Maeve. 6 and Leo, 3.
